Renowned civil rights leader, social activist, and longtime vegetarian Dick Gregory sent a letter on behalf of PETA to David Novak—CEO of KFC’s parent company, Yum! Brands—urging KFC to adopt the animal welfare improvements recommended by PETA and approved by members of KFC’s own advisory panel. Gregory also appeared in a TV advertisement urging people to boycott KFC.
